COLLATION: A4 A-Z4 a-c4 (the last blank); A-S5 (leaf S6, which is not mentioned by Schwerdt, is certainly blank if it exists) ILLUSTRATION: 172 woodcuts (including one for each title), mostly by Jost Amman, Christophe Maurer and Ludwig Frig SIGNED BINDING BY HATTON, Manchester. Calf spine and corners, tobacco cloth boards, red edges. PROVENANCE: Earls of Macclesfield (bookplate; London, March 16, 2004, lot 33) This first German edition of the famous French hunting treatise "is not precisely a translation, but an adaptation by Du Fouilloux, Clamorgan and Franchières, supplemented and augmented by extracts from French, Italian and German hunting authors" (Thiébaud).
