Title in red and black with justification on verso, frontispiece, 50 vignettes COLLATION: 3 f. n. ch., viii pp. (table of ch. and table of illustrations), 146 pp. 1 f. n. ch. table of contents ISSUE: one of 1,650 numbered copies on white paper, this one no. 1565 ILLUSTRATION: 12 full-page chromolithographs of dogs based on watercolors by Olivier de Penne, each mounted on bristol board and preceded by a serpente on pink paper bearing the title of the plate and a few brief indications. Dog breeds include: Gordon Setter, Blue Belton Setter, White and Orange Setter, Pointer, Male Pointer, White and Lemon Pointer, Curly-retriever, Susses spaniel and Clumber spaniel, Spaniel cocker and Water spaniel, Beagles, Night Hound. ADDED ORIGINAL ILLUSTRATION: 2 large original watercolors (275 x 205mm) unsigned but attributable to Olivier de Penne depicting: Snowdrift, the Setter blue Belton on pl. 2 and Paris, the Pointer on pl. 5 IN SHEETS, IN PUBLISHER'S SLIPCASE.
