Calotte that belonged to the uncle of Emperor Napoleon I, in violet silk velvet embroidered with branches of flowers in gold cannetille, glass pearls and gold thread, edged with fine lace in gold thread and cannetille, inside in red silk. This precious souvenir is preserved with a handwritten note, inscribed: "Calotte d'archevêque, donnée par le Cardinal Fesch à son maître de chœur de l'abbatiale de Saint-Jean-Baptiste en remerciements de son dévouement" in a red velvet case, ivory-colored silk interior, containing one of the cardinal's calottes. Worn, but overall good condition. French work from the First Empire. Box: H.: 10 cm - W.: 34 cm - D.: 23.5 cm. Provenance: Present from Cardinal Fesch. From a descendant of François-René de Chateaubriand (1768 - 1848), then kept by the Ruest Aloyse family, custodian until today.
