CLÉMENTINE, princesse d'Orléans (1817-1907) Meeting in the Holy Land of the Duke of Burgundy and King Richard of England. Brown ink drawing, on paper pasted on sheet, from a sketchbook signed lower right by the artist "Clémentine Orléans" and dated "1836", with the artist's autograph text in French illustrating a passage from Jean de Joinville's Mémoires, on Saint-Louis: "As he approached the city the Duke of Burgundy abandoning King Richard of England with what remained of his French, he (....) in these words a lord knight said to him "Sire, Sire Richard, come hither and I will show you Jerusalem (...) and said to our Lord: Well Sir God, I pray thee that thou wilt not suffer me to see thy holy city, since I cannot deliver it from the hands of thine enemies".
