Drawing in brown ink, graphite and white gouache highlights, on paper pasted to sheet, from a sketchbook signed lower left by the artist "Clémentine" and dated "1835", with the artist's autograph text in French illustrating a passage from the book Ahasvérus la légende du juif errant: "Le cheval d'Ahasvérus: maître venez voici mon dernier souffle (il meurt). Ahasvérus: Et moi voici mon agonie...". Good condition. Sight: H.: 35.5 cm - W.: 43.5 cm. Stand: H.: 42.5 cm - W.: 49.5 cm. History: In his romantic novel published in 1823, Edgar Quinet recounts the trials and tribulations of Ahasverus, condemned by Christ to walk the road to Calvary until the Last Judgment.
