Portrait of the young Prince Louis-Charles de France, Dauphin of France, Louis XVII (1785-1795). Pastel drawing on paper laid down on canvas, preserved under glass in its period carved and gilded wood frame. Bears on the back a label with the following handwritten inscription: "Portrait de Louis-Charles Capet, décédé le 20 frimaire... à l'âge de dix ans, à la prison du Temple, d'après la description donnée par le docteur Pelletan. This pastel was done by... Isidore Tourelier for his friend the doctor". Traces of humidity, as is. Sight: H.: 47.5 cm - W.: 35 cm. Frame: H.: 55.5 cm - W.: 43.5 cm. Provenance: former collection of Doctor Philippe Pelletan (1747-1829), according to the inscription on the back of the painting. Pelletan is known for his humane and gentle care of the young prince imprisoned in the Temple, where he died on June 7, 1795, in circumstances that remain mysterious to this day.
