Volant in Flanders lace, bobbins, late 17th/early 18th century. Bas d'aube? with decoration in the style of Bérain, a French designer whose designs created for the ornamentation of various applied arts, including the Point de France needle lace of this period, were taken up by the Flanders lace factories and adapted to the Flemish bobbin lace production of the period. Fine cream-colored linen. Wax seal stamped MJ on a cut card "Jesurum & Cie" held to the lace by a frayed pink silk ribbon. Dim. 3.95 m x 22 cm (very good condition, rare small stains).
