Cleopatra Queen of Egypt, France, circa 1750 Seated on her throne, Cleopatra receives a crown and scepter from a child. She listens to a soldier in armor resting on his shield. Soldiers and servants bring gifts, a child plays with ornaments and servants prepare to play music. The reverse features Zephyr with butterfly wings offering Flora a flowering branch, while companions and lovers surround them. Beautiful, rich white mother-of-pearl mount, finely beaded, carved, engraved, gilded and burgundy, decorated with sheaths surmounted by loves surrounding three cartels. Two show a couple of hunters resting, and the center shows the halali of a stag stopped in its tracks by hounds and hunters. H.t. 29.4 cm-H.f. 13.4 cm (wear, cuts, restorations)
