Abigaël offrant des victuailles à David, Europe, circa 1750 Folded fan, the leaf in skin, painted in gouache of David welcoming Abigaïl who offers him victuals after the work by Nicolas Vleugels (1668-1737). The reverse depicts Jesus speaking to the Samaritan woman as the three disciples arrive. Beautifully carved, engraved and gilded ivory mount decorated with country trophies, flowering baskets and a couple in the center. H.t. 29.5 cm-H.f. 14.6 cm (wear, stains, restorations) N.B. this fan is illustrated in F. de Pertuis and V. Meylan, "Éventails", Paris, Hermé, 1989, p. 55.
