The Fishermen, Europe, circa 1750 Folded fan, the leaf in sk - Lot 67
The Fishermen, Europe, circa 1750 Folded fan, the leaf in skin, mounted in the English style, and painted with fishermen and hunters returning home after a fruitful day. The fisherman has a full hood, while the hunter carries a bird and a rabbit on his shoulder. The sides are beautifully decorated with Indian-style flowers in yellow and brown cameos. The reverse is painted, in the Chinese style, with a bird on a flowering branch. Mounted in finely carved ivory, engraved and gilded with a mirrored couple. H.t. 26.5 cm-H.f. 11.3 cm (worn, missing)
