Moses saved from the waters, Europe, circa 1740 Folded fan, the skin sheet lined with paper, and painted in gouache of the Queen of Egypt on the riverbank calling out to her maid for the child, drifting in a basket on the Nile, to be rescued. Egypt is evoked in the background by two pyramids. Rich borders painted with feathers and stylized shells. The reverse is painted with a couple on the banks of a river. When closed, the fan has its original painted flower border. Beautiful white mother-of-pearl frame, engraved and painted with shepherds in front of a thatched cottage, a peacock and exotic birds. H.t. 26.5 cm-H.f. 11.7 cm (good condition, restoration)
