Triumph of Amphitrite, Europe, circa 1740 Folded fan, the leaf in skin, mounted in the English style, and painted with the goddess Amphitrite on the waves among lovers and tritons. Mute reverse. Finely beaded, carved, engraved and gilded ivory mounting of a couple framing a basket of fruit in a medallion. The borders of the three labels are enhanced with engraved white mother-of-pearl plaques, edged in silver piqué, depicting hearts, mermaids and dolphins. The plumes are enriched with cut and engraved mother-of-pearl plates. Ornate borders in silver piqué. H.t. 27 cm-W.H. 15 cm (wear, restorations)
