The Death of Hector, Italy, circa 1700 Folded fan, the leaf in skin, mounted in the English style, and painted with a wide panorama opening onto the sea, and surrounded by the ramparts of two cities, and military encampments. In the center, resting in the arms of his younger brother Paris, Hector succumbs to his battle with Achilles. Soldiers kneel, while others are still fighting. Mention on right "Cte XII/ T10 T60", corresponding to Chapter 12 of Homer's "The Iliad", "The Death of Hector" during the Trojan War. The reverse is painted on a brown background with a bouquet of roses and ipomeas. Fine ivory mounting, engraved and painted with foliage and flowers.
