PENDANT - BROOCH. - Lot 417
PENDANT - BROOCH. By LORIE, Moscow, early 20th century. In the shape of a snowflake, set in platinum on yellow gold, with a large cushion-shaped diamond (2.40 cts) in the center, surrounded by a line of small diamonds on an openwork background sprinkled with diamonds of different sizes. Good condition Goldsmith's hallmark: Ф. Л.: Féodor Lorie, active from 1871 to 1916 Diameter: 4.5 cm. Gross weight: 13 g. Reference: this pendant brooch is related to a model created by Albert Holmström for Fabergé, given by Emmanuel Nobel to the wife of one of his associates, bearing the name "Russian Snowflake". This design, very fashionable at the time, inspired many jewelers. Bracelets, pendants and brooches were inspired by this typically Russian winter style. See the book by "Ulla Tillander-Godenhielm, jewels, from imperial St. Petersburg", Helsinki, 2012, for several examples from page 242 to 247.
