[LASINIO, Carlo] Alessandra Mari [Florence] [circa 1799] A PATRIOT WOMAN HOLDS THE WHOLE ITALIAN ARMY: ALESSANDRA MARI An etched portrait in an oval medallion (112 x 95 mm) with the caption cut out, all set in a folded leaf Alessandra Cini is better known as Alessandra Mari Mari after her husband, Captain Lorenzo Mari. She was one of the leaders of the anti-Napoleonic resistance movement called "Viva Maria" in 1799 in Tuscany. The Duomo of Florence can be seen in the background, and the Virgin of Consolation in the buttonhole of the woman who liberated Arezzo in the summer of 1799.
