[DUTERTRE, André] Engraved portrait of Édouard de Villiers du Terrage [circa 1798-1801]. ENGRAVED PORTRAIT OF JEAN-MARIE DUBOIS-AYMÉ'S GREAT FRIEND: VILLIERS DU TERRAGE, JEUNE DE L'EXPÉDITION D'ÉGYPTE An engraved medallion portrait (90 x 73 mm), before the letter Édouard de Villiers du Terrage (1780-1855) left Cairo with Jean-Marie Dubois-Aymé for Upper Egypt to study the irrigation system in the Nile watershed. The two young scientists were dazzled by Denderah. Villiers du Terrage excavates a small stone carved for his friend Dubois-Aymé, on which is written in hieroglyphic: "Amon Lord of Heaven". Dubois-Aymé made it his personal seal.
