This elegant zoomorphic seat features a concave seat and a tapering head to which a shell used to extract coconut pulp was attached as an adze. Zoomorphic seats from Nukuoro are rare - they were used to extract coconut pulp, the staple food of the local diet. Its minimalist aesthetic is characteristic of Carolinian art. Beautiful glossy brown patina.
