Two fans, Europe, circa 1780 * The 1st, in the taste of China, is a double sheet of gouache-painted paper. The costumes are enhanced with burgau plates, motifs are highlighted with chain stitch, and some motifs with natural or colored straw. The reverse is painted with a man and child. Black lacquered bamboo frame with gilded decoration. H.t. 29.8 cm (wear, cuts, small dents, accident, restorations) *The 2nd, in the Chinese style, is a double sheet of gouache-painted paper. The motifs are enhanced with burgau plates, straw, natural feathers and mica. The reverse is mute. Red lacquered bamboo frame with gilded decoration. Height 29.2 cm (wear, missing parts, restorations)
