Reading in the garden, France, circa 1780 Folded fan, the silk leaf painted with three labels. Two large bouquets of roses, lilacs and cornflowers surround a country scene with a young man reading a book while a couple and two young girls look on. The reverse is decorated with flowers. Engraved and gilded brown horn mount decorated with trophies and flowers. H.t. 28 cm (wear, alterations, partial folding)
