A day at the farm, France, circa 1760 Folded fan, the skin sheet lined with paper and painted with gouache of a country gathering in front of ruins. A washerwoman hangs out her washing, an elegant shepherd plays with his dog. In the center, a shepherd observes a farmer offering eggs to a young peasant girl. On the reverse: a small house surrounded by flowers evoking Indian textiles. Mounted in finely cut, pierced, engraved, burgundy and gilded white mother-of-pearl, with loves and shepherds in the center. H.t. 29 cm (wear, accidents, restorations, does not fold)
