Country dance, France, circa 1760 Folded fan, the paper sheet painted in gouache with peasants dancing in the setting sun. Lovely waterside landscapes in the side panels. The reverse is painted with sketched figures. White mother-of-pearl mounting, engraved and gilded with trellis architecture. Height 26.7 cm (incomplete, wear, restorations, does not fold)
