Bacchus and Ariadne, Europe, circa 1750 Folded fan, the skin sheet painted with gouache of Ariadne and Bacchus on a chariot drawn by panthers being watered by children. Border of flowers and bunches of grapes pecked by a parrot. Reverse: lovers offer a basket of grapes to a young woman. White mother-of-pearl frame, cut, pierced, engraved and gilded, decorated with baskets and flowers. In the center, a young man and two young girls in conversation are spied on by a small onlooker hidden behind a tree. H.t. 29.8 cm - H.f. 14.6 cm (restorations)
