Born in Antwerp, where he lived for the rest of his life, Meulener supplied a clientele that was keen on these representations, combining the three genres he mastered. The use of copper, which the painter chose for our meticulously treated work, contributes to its preciousness, appreciated by the greatest museums including the Prado, the Hermitage, the Rijksmuseum and the Louvre.
