Hippolyte-Dominique HOLFELD (Paris 1804-1872 Paris) Bust portrait of a young master holding a hunting whip, 1867 Oil on canvas 61 x 50 cm (oval format) Signed and dated lower left: 1867 Exhibition: Most likely Salon de 1868, no. 1262, "Portrait du fils de M. D...", "hors concours". Hippolyte Dominique Holfeld was a pupil of L. Hersent and Abel de Pujol. Pujol. In 1822, he entered the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He painted religious subjects, history, genre scenes and portraits, and was archivist for the Association des Peintres, Sculpteurs, founded by Baron Taylor.
