LIBRARY OF SERGE LIFAR (1905-1986). NICOLAS MIKHAILOVITCH, Grand Duke of Russia, Russian Portraits of the 18th and 19th centuries, published in St. Petersburg, by the Grand Duke at the Imperial State Manufactory, large folio (360x280 mm), period bindings in gray percaline, each volume contains plates of out-of-text engravings identified at the bottom of each, followed by biographical text on each of the figures depicted. Text in Russian and French. Volume I (1905): not complete, containing fascicule IV (plates 39 to 50) and (plates 152 to 194, plate 156 missing). Vol. II (1906): not complete, containing plates 39 to 50 and 165 to 205. Volume V (1909): complete, containing issue 1: (plates 1 to 25), issue 2: (plates 26 to 50), issue 3: (plates 51 to 151) and issue 4: (plates 156 to 254). Damage to binding, as is. Provenance: former collection of Serge Lifar, with his autograph signature in Cyrillic script "Serge Diaghilev" at the opening of each volume, followed by the handwritten inscription : "Exposition Serge Lifar, Saint-Pétersbourg, 1905".
