LARGE CASKET CONTAINING THE PERSONAL EFFECTS OF EMPRESS MARIE-LOUISE (1791-1847). Rectangular in shape, gilded bronze, finely chased with leafy arabesque motifs, adorned on the lid with a profile portrait of King Henri IV under crown surrounded by olive branches and eagles, resting on a gilded wooden base. Preserved with its key. Attached is a livery button from the district of Alais, bearing the inscription "La Nation - La Loi - Le Roi" ("The Nation - The Law - The King"). Slight wear. French Louis-Philippe period. H. 17 cm - W. 38 cm - D. 32 cm Provenance : this box, which contained the shoes and gloves that belonged to Empress Marie-Louise, was sold by Hector Masel's grandson, Monsieur Sueur, on December 8, 1925, to Th. Potier. As the accompanying handwritten note indicates.
