SAVARY Charles, Le gouvernement constitutionnel, published by Librairie du moniteur universel, Paris, 1873, 271 pp. decorated on edges, in-8°. Contemporary half-binding and corners in brown morocco signed David, spine ribbed and richly decorated, and on the lower part the interlaced monogram in gold letters of Prince Robert d'Orléans Duc de Chartres (RO) under ducal crown. Black morocco title-piece, title in gold lettering. Slight foxing, good overall condition. History: Charles Savary was a brilliant jurist under the Second Empire and an influential politician of the monarchist party in the early years of the Third Republic. In this very interesting work, he makes constitutional proposals and provides comprehensive statistical information on départements and electoral districts. As a Member of Parliament, he had several of his ideas adopted by the Chamber.
