LIBRARY OF THE COMTE DE PARIS (1838- 1894) GRANDSON OF KING LOUIS-PHILIPPE. DELANOUE Cordelier, Les Javanais, published by Barbou Frères Libraire, Limoges, 1845, 304 pp. gilt on edges, in-4°. Fine contemporary binding in black morocco signed on the spine by Ginain relieur du roi, decorated in the center of each plate with the interlaced monogram of Prince Louis-Philippe d'Orléans Comte de Paris (LPO), the monogram in gold lettering beneath a royal crown framed by three fillets and a stylized gold frieze. Spine ribbed, title in gold lettering and floral motif. Illustrated with an engraving in the opening. Minor foxing and spine damage. History: Ginain began his career as an apprentice with Bozérian le Jeune, at the same time as Thouvenin. He worked from around 1829 to 1849, and was considered one of the finest bookbinders of the Romantic period. He was the bookbinder to the King and to H.R.H. the Prince of Joinville.
