MAURICE CHEVALIER: A glazed ceramic mantel clock from the 1930s. This model depicts two romantic characters, a young man playing guitar and leaning on his bride. A gallant scene that was very fashionable in the '30s. Almond-green ceramic with gilding in fine condition. Length 39 cm - Height 23 cm. With an old art deco mechanical alarm clock, Scout brand. (The alarm clock, 6.5 cm in diameter, does not work). This clock appeared on the kitchen mantelpiece in Maurice Chevalier's villa in Cannes La Bocca. The artist later gave it to the mother of his first wife, Yvonne Vallée. She kept it preciously.
