KAORU KAZE (b. 1960) Cry, Laugh, Love and Doll (1978) Special issue, November 25, 1978. Original Indian ink on paper. Texts printed and pasted on the board. Pre-published in Shojo friend magazine. 36x25.7 cm. Author's signature and stamp on verso. Kaoru Kaze, real name Suzuki Fusako, is a Shôjo artist who published extensively from 1970 to the end of the '80s. A One Shot specialist, few of her series were published in hardcover. Influenced by both Osamu Tezuka and Riyoko Ikeda, she took part in the famous Shojo Manga School in mid-1960, at the same time as Yoko Chuzu and Suzue Miuchi (the early author of Glass no Kamen). She was awarded the gold medal in the 11th Bessatsu Margaret Magazine Young Talent Award, and made her debut in the process. At the same competition, the grand prize went to Motto Haggio.
