54. Yoann (born 1971) - Lot 54
54. Yoann (born 1971) Donjon Monsters T.6, "Du Ramdam chez les brasseurs", original plate (Delcourt, 2003, based on a screenplay by Joann Sfar and Lewis Trondheim) Acrylic, colored pencil and bic on paper 40x30 cm Yoann... was born in 1971, on October 8, in Alençon in the Orne region... a youth spent drawing at home on Wednesday afternoons, or observing frogs on the banks of nearby streams... After a baccalaureate in plastic arts, he was accepted at the École des Beaux-Arts in Angers, a town he lived in for 8 years. At the Beaux-Arts, he met Eric Omond, who quickly became his favorite scriptwriter and one of his best friends. He also opened up to contemporary art, video, photography and communications, and even gave up comics for a year and a half. Nevertheless, he published Phil Kaos in Deadline magazine in the UK (stories reissued by Triskel) and Dark Boris in Inkling magazine. The Beaux-Arts cycle comes to an end, and he joins the CNBDI (Angoulême) as a conscientious objector for 10 months, during which time he designs educational tools and runs comics courses. Before leaving Angers for Nantes, he created the association "La Boîte qui fait Beuh", bringing together promising young authors such as Olivier Supiot, Nathalie Bodin, Boris Beuzelin, Olivier Martin, Lionel Marty, etc. At the same time, he produced the debut of Toto l'ornithorynque in 1997, which marked his first success in the French-Belgian comic strip world. Combining both direct color (Phil Kaos, Toto l'ornithorynque or his Donjon Monsters) and solo drawing, he experiments with all genres and accepts numerous challenges: the Voleuse du Père Fauteuil for Poisson Pilote, the "adult" SF Ninie Rezergoude and children's comics for Delcourt, the Bob Marone cover for Fluide Glacial, or the first of the "Spirou & Fantasio par..." series for Dupuis. Yoann is one of those artists who interests scriptwriters (he works or has worked with Eric Omond, Conrad & Yann, Fabien Vehlmann, Lewis Trondheim...) and who always has a project ahead of him.
