9. AUGUSTIN, Virginie (b. 1973) La dolce vita, original illustration. Watercolor on paper, signed. 21x29.7cm Virginie Augustin is a comic strip artist born in Chatou in 1973. A student at CFT Gobelins and trained in cartooning, she worked with the Disney studios, then on various animated series. In 2001, Wilfrid Lupano offered her the script for Alim le Tanneur. The first volume, published by Delcourt in 2004, was a great success. She took part in various cartoon productions and several collective albums, including Première Fois for the same publisher. Contacted by Christophe Arleston, she joined the world of Troy for Le Voyage aux ombres, released in 2011, then Casterman for the two volumes of Whaligoë, in collaboration with Yann, released in 2012 and 2014. Eclectic, changing her style depending on the project, in 2013 she took part in the Les Gens normaux collective, scripted and directed by Hubert, whom she reunited with in 2016 for Monsieur désire? winner of the 2017 Prix Diagonale-Le Soir for best album. She then began the 40 Éléphants series for Bamboo, scripted by Kid Toussaint. In 2019, she produced Chimères de fer dans la clarté lunaire solo for the Conan le Cimmérien series published by Glénat. She reunites with Hubert for Joe La Pirate, released in 2021 by Glénat, shortlisted for the FNAC-France Inter prize. In 2022, Pierre Christin offers her a Valerian et Laureline adventure, published by Dargaud. In 2023, Toujours Prêtes is released, scripted by Julien Hervieux for Fluide Glacial.
