Marie Adam, Le fil de l'Amour, France, circa 1890-1900 A large folded fan, the double skin sheet painted with two young women spinning wool, assisted by loves. Others play with garlands of roses and doves, symbols of love. Signed lower left by the French painter "M. Adam". Reverse painted with gilded foliage and rose borders. Beautiful burgau mother-of-pearl mount, engraved, silvered and gilded with flowers. Beveled plumes. Metal clasp. H.t. 35.5 cm-H.f. 22.3 cm (wear to folds and stains on reverse) In a reddish-brown leather-covered box, the lid engraved "MM", with the address of Ernest Kees, fan factory, on the inside.
