Offerings to Hymen, circa 1820-1830 Folded fan, double sheet of engraved paper enhanced with gouache, of three young girls placing a quiver and doves on the altar of Love. The god Hymen, presiding over the wedding, watches from a cloud. Reverse: two flower girls challenged by a man, in a setting evoking Spain. Black wood frame. The pierced plumes are decorated with bone crosses and white mother-of-pearl plates. H.t. 21.5 cm - H.f. 12.6 cm (wear, restorations)
