View of the port of Ancona in Italy, Europe, circa 1750 Beautiful fan, the double skin sheet painted with gouache of a view of the port of Ancona in Italy. On the right, the ruined triumphal arch of Trajan depicts a scene in the spirit of the painter Vernet. On the left, people of quality are about to embark on a promenade on the the waters. The reverse features a broad riverside panorama animated by a shepherd playing the flute. Mounted in finely cut, engraved ivory, enhanced with gouache and with symmetrical decoration of a couple of shepherds and shepherdesses, and cartels cartels holding a basket loaded with autumn fruits.
