Tortoiseshell fan, China, circa 1800 Rare brown tortoiseshell "cocarde" fan, finely pierced and engraved with garden scenes featuring figures on horseback, in boats or in pavilions. The top of the blades are carved with figures, and two dragons facing each other in the center. The main strands are carved with a phoenix and a dragon. Diameter: 28 cm Height: 36.5 cm (very good condition)
