Kabuki, Europe, circa 1920 Umbrella, silk canvas cover with wide faille selvedge printed with pink, blue and yellow flowers and leaves on a squirrel-colored background. Handle in Malacca rush, carved with nine Japanese masks (kabuki?), head to toe, adorned with two carved ivory rings. These carvings are similar to the umbrella handles illustrated in the Gazette du Bon Ton, no. 8, 1922. Braided leather passe main ending in a ball carved with four smiling Japanese masks. Total length: 93 cm Ten black steel ribs, 54 cm Weight: 439 gr
