Rhinoceros, Europe, circa 1860 Luxury "marquise" folding umbrella with mechanical Chantilly lace cover, "bavolines", on a silk taffeta background. Handle in rhinoceros horn with a brambly effect, finished with a spherical pommel in gold-spiked scaille. Total length:65cm- Folded length 36 cm Eight whalebone bristles, 27cm Total weight189gr All umbrellas and parasols containing ivory, whale baleen or rhinoceros horn benefit from an intra-community certificate, K permit, allowing them to circulate in Europe.
