Parasol, Europe, circa 1810-1820 Pagoda-shaped parasol, pink silk cover with striped border, edged with white silk fringe. White silk lining. Turned wooden handle, turned bone pommel. Metal tip. Total length 95 cm Eight whalebone ribs, 41 cm (cover restored with silk thread) All umbrellas and parasols containing ivory, whalebone or rhinoceros horn are issued with an intra-Community certificate, or K permit, allowing them to be circulated in Europe. These will be issued to purchasers.
