Woman's umbrella, Europe, late 18th century Rare ladies' umbrella with garnet-colored silk cover. Wooden shaft with molded horn handle. Long runner and ferrule in copper decorated with plant motifs. Total length: 83 cm Eight strands of whale baleen, 65 cm Weight 572 gr (original condition, cover cleaned) All umbrellas and parasols containing ivory, whale baleen or rhinoceros horn are issued with an intra-Community certificate, or K permit, allowing them to circulate in Europe. These will be issued to purchasers.
