Set of 5 plates and a display stand in Paris porcelain with - Lot 474
Set of 5 plates and a display stand in Paris porcelain with celadon green border, frieze and gilded fillet. The polychrome coat of arms appears in the center of the display, while the plates bear the number H surmounted by the crown of Baron James-Aloysius Harden-Hickey (1854-1898), known under the pseudonym Saint-Patrice, who launched the royalist weekly "Le Triboulet" (1878-1891), which was the subject of numerous censures. He emigrated and claimed the title of King of Trinidad, under the name of James 1st. In 1891, he married for the second time, Annie Harper-Flagler, heiress to Standard Oil. He committed suicide in 1898. In France, he lived in the Château d'Andilly near Montmorency. Good condition for 4 plates (the fifth has two chips at the edge), the display stand has a small chip without fel at the edge (for the display stand diam.: 22 cm and H.: 7 cm; for the plates diam.: 23.8 cm).
