Sheet of 14 buttons, 10 large and 4 small: the rarest button - Lot 68
Sheet of 14 buttons, 10 large and 4 small: the rarest button of the French family, that of Ferdinand-Philippe, Duc d'Orléans (1810-1842), eldest son of King Louis-Philippe, who died prematurely from a fall from a carriage. This button was rarely worn, given the prince's short life. It also appears to be the first applique button made by Merlau at the Palais-Royal in 1840 [IV-2583].
