Redingote and breeches from the ceremonial livery of Count B - Lot 55
Redingote and breeches from the ceremonial livery of Count Boniface de Castellane (1867-1932), reputed to be the finest of all liveries. The frock coat has red silk velvet facings on the sleeves and false pockets, and the Castellane arms braid is exceptionally well woven with gold and colored threads. It is fitted with 21 large gold buttons (no missing or moth holes, fragile braid seams). The breeches are made of red silk velvet and stop at mid-leg with an armorial braid fitted with a gold buckle, extended on each side by a polychrome crest embroidered with the coat of arms (4 small armorial buttons at the bottom of each leg, perfect condition. An embroidered label identifies the servant: "Armand"). Large size: "Boni" de Castellane always chose large servants [button I-191].
