Jacket, vest and postilion breeches bearing the figures of François-Adolphe Akermann and his wife (x 1836] Marie Boquet de Saint-Simon (letters A and S). François-Adolphe was regent of the Banque de France from 1859 until his death in 1890. The jacket is in black woollen cloth, with a red velvet bib and facings on the bottom and sleeves with gold thread braid and 58 small buttons (the bib shows traces of wear but no holes). The vest is in red velvet and wool cloth with gold thread braid and 7 small buttons (a few moth holes). French-style black breeches. Late Second Empire [provenance: Château de Coulonge in Sarthe, button II-1010].
