Baptismal gown, Ayrshire embroidery, mid-19th century. Long presentation dress or christening gown in very finely plumetis-embroidered linen, short sleeves and plastron bodice embroidered with a mirrored motif, a heart with garlands of florets and foliage below a large flower with medallion petals adorned with fine needlepoint fashions, skirt with two flat flounces on either side of an embroidery arrangement at the bottom of the skirt and with the same decoration as the bodice. (good condition, one small hole and a few very small stains on the skirt). Cf. "Baby wore white" Mrs. Heather Toomer.
