Rare handkerchief in Alençon lace and closed crown, needlework, France, last quarter of the 19th century. With a large Alençon stitch frame of great finesse and elegant design, structured four-lobed decoration with an airy river and oblong medallions adorned with a twelve-pointed star, each corner with a supple stem of three fuchsia flowers and their leaves cut out in very tight stitches with a shading effect. Shaded ochre cotton, horsehair around the edge of the handkerchief and on the river. MMC monogram under finely embroidered closed crown in one corner of the linen, the C adorned with small fashions. Dim. 34 cm x 34 cm (good condition, a few small stains).
