Buratto borders, Italy, 17th century. Fine Buratto in ecru-colored silk, embroidered in cream silk with a repeated head-to-tail motif of a vine shoot housing two small roosters, for a total of ten roosters over the entire border. 110 cm x 17 cm (worn and worn) Provenance: Phillips sale, London, November 1992, Margaret Simeon Collection. We enclose two other borders in the same technique, one in linen embroidered in darning stitch with a geometric frieze and acanthus leaves, Dim. 105 cm x 10.5 cm, the other in linen with a similar decoration embroidered in red, Dim. 42 cm x 6.5 cm (good overall condition, rare minor accidents).
