GAUSH Alexandre Fedorovich (1873-1947). The old farmhouse / A gray day. Set of two oil on canvas signed lower right, preserved in two modern frames. The reverse of each frame bears a label with a handwritten inscription in Cyrillic characters. Good condition, with age-related wear to the frame. Sight: H.: 38.5 cm - W.: 76 cm. Frame: H.: 55 cm - W.: 93 cm. Biography: Alexander Fedorovich Gaush was born in Saint Petersburg to a merchant father. He is particularly renowned for his landscape and still-life paintings. He lives in several Russian cities, including Sevastopol, Odessa and Simferopol. He studied under P. P. Chistyakov in St. Petersburg and was later awarded the title of artist by the Academy of Fine Arts in 1899. An important figure in the "New Society of Artists" and a member of the "World of Art" association, he taught in various educational institutions and left a significant artistic legacy, his works being exhibited in galleries and museums throughout Russia, Ukraine, Armenia and Kazakhstan.
