SILVER CIGARETTE CASE. By ARTEL, Saint Petersburg, 1899-1908. Rectangular in shape, rounded at the corners, with engraved decoration of fine horizontal fluting alternating in the center with a wide band, the hinged lid opens with a gold catch set with a hardstone cabochon, The lid is decorated with a St. George's cross in polychrome enamel, the imperial eagle, several facsimile signatures, one of an epaulette, a monogram and a horse's head in gold; the reverse features an enameled monogram, an elephant, a horseshoe and two gold signatures. Gilt interior, engraved with a dedication in Cyrillic characters: To Auguste Veské of the army rear headquarters, in gratitude for his excellent service. Minor accidents, but overall good condition. Title hallmark: 84, St. Petersburg, 1899-1908. Goldsmith's hallmarks: Association des Artels de Moscou. E. 2 cm - L. 10 cm - W. 8 cm. Gross weight: 191 g. Provenance: former collection of General Juzas Rimkiavichus.
