An important warrior's desk, or "presidents' desk", in rosewood veneer in violet wood frames, standing on four angled cambered legs with bronze sabots and surmounted by large figures of ancient warrior heads, the curved belt opens to three drawers and is adorned with large female masks on the sides, the curved top with lingotière trimmed in brown leather decorated with small irons. Louis XV style, after a model by Charles Cressent (1685 - 1768), kept at the Mobilier National. Height : 80 cm - Width : 189 cm - Depth : 103 cm (Minor accidents and restorations) Model history: The Elysée desk came from the Ministry of the Navy, and has been used by virtually every president since Armand Fallières in the Third Republic. A third, formerly in the collections of Baron Nathaniel de Rothschild Rothschild and now in the Gulbenkian Museum in Lisbon. In the 19th century, this desk was reproduced by leading luxury furniture manufacturers such as Henry Dasson, Alfred Beurdeley and François Linke.
